ROAMER TO TRY FOR MILE RECORD Andrew Millers Great Racer to Be Sent After Salvators Record Next Wednesday WednesdayBy By J Li Dempsey DempseySaratoga Saratoga X Y August 1C A feature for next Wednesday that promises to eclipse any former one carded here during this season or any other was clinched this morning when Andrew J Miller agreed to send his jwpular nicer Iloamer after the American mile record of l3 Hit HOW held by Sun Briar but in reality after the mile time of 135 made by Salvator over the Monmouth Park straight course The only stipulation the owner makes is that the day and track must be suitable The incident is n purely sporting oiie and the only remuneration that owner Miller will derive from Uoamers race if it is a successful one is a handsome trophy The weight assignment for Iloamer will be that carried by Salvator 110 pounds poundsThe The race against time will be under conditions that governed Salvators feat two and possibly three pacemakers being used to accelerate Iloamcrs speed While owner Miller has not yet decided on the jockey who will have the mount on Iloamer it is supjtosed that he will employ one of the older riders with a good knowledge of pace paceThe The race will IK open to all who desire to engage in it and if other owners show a willingness to engage in it the Saratoga Association will more than likely offer a purse commensurate with the under ¬ taking and an additional trophy if the record is broken The race will IK a special addition to Wednesdays regular card cardIn In discussing the race Andrew Miller said this afternoon I was a bit loath of accepting the en ¬ gagement for Iloamer at first for it looked like I was trying t exploit my own wares for I feel confident that Iloamer can run a mile over the track in faster time than Salvator did at Monmouth Park The only stipulation I made is that weather and track conditions must be suitable for the trial in case the track is not fast Wednesday Iloamer will postpone his effort Until such time that the track is fast fastThe The race is already exciting vast interest and a record attendance is expected to witness Iloamers performance performanceW W II Coe late in the afternoon when lie learned of Roamers proposed mile recordbreaking race tendered to Andrew Miller the use of Polymelian to serve as one of the pacemakers Mr Miller ac ¬ cepted
