JOCKEY BUXTON RIDING IN POOR FORM Sande Scon in Saddle Less Frequently Since Join ingr Ross Stable Little Chance for Lunsford Saratoga N Y August 20 Coincident with a change in jockeys the Maeomber stable lias been making a letter showing the past week than hitherto during the meeting The incident that finally in ¬ fluenced trainer W 15 Jennings to relinquish the use of jockey Buxtons services was tlie woefully incompetent ride that Buxton gave Hollister early in the week in a race in which it was apparent he was best but in which he was beaten by Slippery Elm It was simply the climax of a series of un ¬ satisfactory rides in which Buxton had figured This boy who was among the stars of last year and who has ridden successfully for many a year ap ¬ pears to have partially lost his ability in the saddle this year yearJockey Jockey Sande has been seen in the saddle less frequently since the acquisition of his contract by the Ross stable than formerly One of the reasons for this is that there is less certainty that Ins services will be available in advance of the running of a race than when lie was a free lance It may be expected that his opportunities will in ¬ crease witii the transfer of the Ross stable to Mary ¬ land where conditions will be somewhat different from those prevailing here hereJockey Jockey Lunsford who came here from Kentucky with a firstclass reputation well earned by meri ¬ torious saddle work has really had no opportunity here to siiow his capabilities But there is nothing the matter witii this lad and he will show his skill when the opportunity offers
