METEORITE GIVEN TO GOVERNMENT Jolin Sanford Withdraws Crack Colt from Fasig Tipton Co Sale for That Purpose New York Septemlwr 11 John Sanford has withdrawn the brilliant Star Shoot stallion Meteor ¬ ite which as a yearling cost him the not incon ¬ siderable sum of 12500 from the sale of horsis in training which the FasigTipton Company will conduct for him in the paddock at Belmont Park next Saturday September 14 for the good and suf ¬ ficient reason that he no longer owns Meteorite Meteorite is now the property of the Inited States Remount Service by virtue of Mr Sanfords pa ¬ triotic generosity and he will next spring I cgin the work of siring cavalry artillery and trans ¬ port horses for the future armies of the United States at some farm yet to l e designated designatedA A bigboned closecoupled and stoutly made horse all over Meteorite is just the type for service of this sort and he is perhaps as good a thoroughbred stallion as the government has obtained cither by gift or purchase for this work in the last half dozen years On his sires side Meteorite is English but his dam Hamburg Belle a daughter of Ham ¬ burg carries the best American blood
