A KMACOMBERS FALL CAMPAIGN PLANS Will Not Invade the Maryland Field Until the Metropolitan Fall Season Is Over Now York September 12 Walter Jennings who is looking after the interests of A K Macombers stable lias decided to race in this neighborhood until the meeting begins at Pimlico where he will make his Ixnv to the Maryland patrons This means that he will not show the Macomber colors at Laurel as that meeting will have almost expired by the time tin season closes here At the close of Pim ¬ lico it is more than probable the Macomber horses will IM brought back to Belmont Park for the winter and located in the palatial stable built by the Californian There are several rich stakes to be run at Pimlico for which Mr Jesnings is preparing his stock He also has his eye on some of the fix ¬ tures to be run at Aqueduct Jamaica and Empire City CityOIK OIK of the most sought after men at Bflmont Park on Monday was Maj Thomas Hitchcock father of the American Ace Tom Hitchcock Jr who was fortunate enough to escape the clutches of his Hun guard after being made a prisoner It is hardly necessary to say that Maj Hitchcock was all smiles when speaking of his boy and hardly a person who is acquainted with the major failed to grasp him by the hand in congratulation congratulationI I guess he had a pretty tough time getting back to France said Maj Hitchcock but he is one of those game fellows who would overlook all sorts of hardships to achieve a desired result We shall all be mighty glad to see him when he gets back here which I hojMf will be soon soonAnother Another military arrival will be seen at Belmont Park this week if he can spare the time from his government duties and that is Maj Alan Pinkerton He returned from France on Sunday last and if he can bo i ersuaded by his uncle William Pinkarton he will spend at least one afternoon at the track if only to renew acquaintances with some of his old friends friendsAVIATORS AVIATORS DAILY PERFORMANCES PERFORMANCESThere There was a time when large sums of money were paid to see an aviator One only has to pay a visit to Belmont Park these days to see them in flocks On Monday last just before the fifth race was called there was a group of fifty One section flew over the course creating quite a furor and drawing forth fouuil after rbtlhd of applause as the specta ¬ tors watched first one and then another doing aerial stunts that were almost astounding They come from the Mineola Camp Frequently some of them drop into the infield just to see a race or two then they climb into their seats and shoot into the air again like a flock of swallows and return to their headquartersOne headquarters One singular incident in connection with the visit ¬ ing aviators is the fact that notwithstanding the noise of their engines and the buzz of their propel lors the thoroughbreds do not seem to mind the disturbance In fact not one has been seen to swerve or show fear yet at times the machines fly almost in front of them and within a few feet of the track trackJames James Casey one of the nice track wits re ¬ marked a day or two ago that he never saw inci get as old as some of his friends within the past few days A month ago some of the boys around here were only thirtyfive years old said Casev Since this new draft law went into effect those fellows have jumped their birth certificates ten years and to make a sure thing of it one or two of them are claiming to be more than fifty years old yet they have been masquerading around for the last twenty years as chickens I dont know whether to report them or not but one thing is sure the old draft law is making many a man tell the truth
