PIMLICOS VALUABLE AUTUMN PROGRAM Over 100000 Will Be Distributed During Eleven Days of Racing Stakes Close September 25 Baltimore Md September 21 The thirty odd thousand dollars worth of stakes that will be decided at Pimlico track in the course of the November meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club which will begin on the first of the month and run eleven racing days will close on September 25 These stakes are the Bowie Cup of 10000 added one mile and a half for threeyearolds and over the Manly Memorial Steeplechase of 10000 added two miles and a half for fouryearbids and over the Piui lico Autumn Handicap of 5000 added one mile and a iuarter for threeyearolds and over the Walden Stakes of 5000 added one mile for twoveurolds and the Elkridge Steeplechase of 3000 added two miles for jumpers three years old With thes stakes that are to be decided this fall the Mary ¬ land Jockey Club will close the Pimlico Nursery a 1500 added money race at four and a half fur ¬ longs that will be decided next spring springThe The total of money that will be distributed among horsemen at Pimlico in the course of the impending eleven days meeting will be about 105 000 The average per day will be nearly 10000 Pimlico will offer no overnight race of smaller value than 1000 in added money and there will be one or more steeplechases every day Steeple chasing has always been a tremendously popular feature of racing in this part of the world and the Maryland Jockey Club has in the past been success ¬ ful in filling its cross country features There an many steeplechasers in various parts of the east pre ¬ paring for the Maryland Jockey Clubs cross countrv sport Now that the Harbor Hill Steeplechase is tem ¬ porarily abandoned the Elkridge is the only special of value that will be offered for threeyearold Jumpers by an American racing association Be ¬ cause of the encouragement its renewal has given to owners interested in the development of good cross country horses there are upwards of 100 threeyearolds schooling right now nowThe The Walden which is now regarded as the best of the eastern seasons autumn juvenile specials bids fair to bring to tho post this fall a field of tht fastest twoyearolds the season has developed Billy Kelly Eternal Dunboyue Purchase Sir Bar ¬ ton Sweep On and Terentia all arc likely elisibloi for it
