RACING STATISTICS OF THE CURTAILED MEETING OF THE MARYLAND STATE FAIR AT LAUREL The autumn meeting of the Maryland State Fair at Laurel was highly successful despite the ina ¬ bility of the racing association to complete its original schedule The meeting opened on October 1 and continued to October 12 when it was necessary to suspend racing at Laurel because of the ban placed on public gatherings by the Maryland State Hoard of Health on account of the epidemic of influenza The ban was not lifted until October when Laurel racing was again resumed and continued to Octo ¬ ber 31 enabling the Maryland State Fair to complete sixteen of the original twentyseven days of rac ¬ ing During the curtailed meeting 111 races were run and 107400 was distributed in stakes and purses bringing up the daily average distribution to the high ligure of 10405 All the regular stake features were run including the special twoyearold race between Hilly Kelly and Eternal Great crowds were in daily attendance at Laurel Park and if it hart IKMI possible to complete tin original schedule there is no doubt that all the records of the wonderful fall meeting at Laurel last year would have been sur J W McClelland by virtue of Eternals victory over Hilly Kelly in the special twoyearold race is the leading money winning owner However Commander J K L Boss is the real leader as far us races won is concerned with nine winners and 12034 to his credit E H McLean has reason to l e satisfied with the showing of his stable his horses winning seven races and 9189 The fol ¬ lowing is the list of
