SPEEDING UP TRAINING AT LATONIA Good Track Conditions Enable Trainers to Work Their Horses Many New Arrivals Cincinnati 0 Xovember ti In anticipation of the inauguration next Saturday of the long deferred Latonia autumn meeting trainers at the track are pushing forward with all possible speed in the training of their horses in order to have them in tin best possible racing trim The past week witnessed a noticeable letup in training opera ¬ tions due partly to the heavy track and the un ¬ certainty as to the opening date but with a return to better track conditions and the pleasing prospect of an early opening has conu renewed activity in the work of fitting the horses for their engagements engagementsThe The track this morning was in ideal condition and enabled smie of the racers to show some really meritorious work Considerable interest centered in the work of J B Goodmans Bradleys Choice and Bribed Voter both of which worked a mile ir fast time Bribed Voter is Goodmans chief re ¬ liance in the I itonia Inaugural Handicap and if his work today is any criterion he i fit and ready for the contest Other good moves were shown by Colonel Livingston regarded as the best two yearold in the west T C McDowells Manager WaiJte Williams Bros FauxCol J W Schorrs Dragoon Miller Hendersons Beaverkill and A K Macombers Fruit Cake CakeSevenil Sevenil carloads of horses arrived today from Ijiuisville among the consignment being the stables of Jo ITmensetter J H Baker W M Cain and W Woodward The Imensetier stable included Old Miss J J Mnrdock Goldstone King Trovato and several yearlings yearlingsFormer Former starter Jake Holtman is nowa fullfledged owner jiid trai having recently acquired several horses which lie intends to race at the Latonia meeting and later on at Havana He has secured from Joe Hawkins the fiveyearold Jeffery and from W G KingDodds he has acquired Lubelski and Vagabond Jeffery is a notoriously bad actor but his new owner believes that with proper school ¬ ing lit will In able to overcome his mean traits He is a wellbred horse being a half brother to Shot Gun and a brother to the former fast sprinter Prince Gi Holtman is planning also to race at Havana a number of horses belonging to other BLACKIE DAW OUT OF IT ITA A L Kirby was at the track today for the first time in a fortnight During that time he had been undergoing treatment in a Cincinnati hospital for the restoration of the sight of one of his eyes Th treatment brought about beneficial results Kirby announced that his fast sprinter Blackie Daw would probably not be seen in action at La tonui due to injury he received to one of his legs Kifle Shooter another member of the stable has fallen lame and will be on the shelf until next spring springKay Kay Spence is arranging to race a stable of twentyfive horses at Havana next winter Fif ¬ teen of this number including the good handicap horse Hodge will race in Spences colors while the remainder will be made up of horses from the stables of Koine Uespess and J C Ferriss Jockey T Murray the Covington apprentice will do the riding for the Spence establishment establishmentJ J OMailey owner of Diversion and other horses will make the engagements of jockey J Griiber at Latojiia This good rider is under contract to A L Uogcrs the Oklahoma turfman who has a good sizd stable here in charge of K T Itunnels ItunnelsVord Vord reciivod today from IxinlsviHv is to the effect that George J Long the popular breeder and owner has fully recovered from a recent attack of illness and is able to be about again againA A G Weston arrived today from Louisville bringing with him several useful racers
