IMPROVEMENTS AT EMPIRE CITY TRACK Many Alterations Will Be Made at Yonksrs Course Before Next Season New York Gossip GossipNew New York November 9 When the Yonkers meeting of 1919 opens at the Empire City track so many improvements will have been made that the old course will hardly Iw recognizable We are going to jnake a lot of altirationa said Mr James Butler the president of the organization In the first place we are going to build a number of new stables and renovate all the old ones The whole place is going to be dressed up in new colors and the clubhouse will be extended and joined to the grandstand after the pattern of Aqueduct In fact we are going to make a lot of improvements to accommodate the public and horsemen We an ¬ ticipate a big year in racing and we want to make everything as comfortable as possible possibleAmong Among the turfmen who will spend the winter in New York is Emil Hers I shall pay a visit to Kentucky about once a month to settle bills and look at the youngsters on the farm said Emil and then come back to New York and spread out in the armchair Billy Beverly also will winter here Ed Callahan will spend a few weeks fishing I and hunting in the south until the New Orleans meeting opens where he will probably continue operating as a purveyor of odds oddsQuite Quite a few regular followers of turf affairs who have skipped the Pimlico meeting settling up their affairs here will be seen at tlie Bowie track Harry Stevens has the catering privileges at Bowie during tlie coming meeting
