FAMOUS AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY IS DEAD The famous old Australian jockey Billy Delaney has died in Sydney at the age of 4 He had a long and highly successful career in tlie saddle for he was only 11 years of age when he rode his first winner at Steuart Town He was the first jockey in Australia to receive a retaining fee While associated with Mark Thompsons stable his best wins were on Oxenhams Sailor Boy Cabin Boy and Pilot Boy but he had also to his credit a Sydney Cup on Lady Trenton a Caulfield Cup oil Waterfall and two Derbys on Cocos for Ikis Foulsham He also rode two seconds and a third in the Melbourne Cup
