CHINESE PHEASANTS IN OREGON OREGONThe The Chinese pheasant season in Oregon closed on tht night of October 31 There had been fewer hunters in the field than usual owing to the number of young men who are in some branch of the service However the season was an average one with the majority of nimrods Some of them returned at times minus the limit only to get a full bag on other trips It seemed as if there were certain localities this year where the male birds were more numerous than usual while others were not as thickly populated as in other open seasons AH hunters report that there is a superabundance of females even where they were not so fortunate in running across great numbers of the males which were legal prey It is believed that more native pheasants were killed this year thjin nsual as they have been found in greater num bersthan lusual One thing the sp6rtsmen are looking for iif the future is the increase in the number of nrile They argue that with the female protected aiid peiifgWpleiitif ul it means that there will be more males available in the next few years
