ALABAMA FISH AND GAME LAWS Montgomery Ala November 22 In a report sub ¬ mitted to Governor Charles Henderson John H Wallace Jr state game and fish commissioner makes recommendations to the next legislature that all state hinds whether held in fee or in trust be declared preservesProviding state game refuges and forest preserves Providing that hunters license year shall expire Yune li liProviding Providing for the appointment of deputy game and fish wardens by the game and fish commis ¬ sioner by and with the consent and approval of the governor governorProviding Providing for the changing of the open season on squirrels shall begin on October 1 instead of August 1 1Providing Providing a comprehensive system for the pro tection of the forests making it unlawful to pol lute streams by placing or throwing sawdust or other deleterious substances therein thereinPrescribing Prescribing the size of mesh of all nets legally operated in the fresh waters of the state imposing a license tax on all nets and fish traps operated in the fresh waters for the purpose of regulating the same providing that fish can only be taken in fresh water emptying into salt water the same as now prescribed for taking fish in fresh water providing for a closed season on furbearing animals and the licensing of trappers Mr Wallace shows it is safe to approximate the value of birds wild quadrupeds and fish yearly in Alabama as follows Quail dove duck geese snipe squirrel etc 3200000 furs stfins and pelts 30000 commerce depending upon fish 500000 value of birds to agriculture horticulture and for ¬ estry 3000000 total of 6730000
