PRICE McKINNEY TO RETURN TO TURF Erpeets to Gather Small Init Select Stable for Racinrr Next Year NEV YORK December 7 Price McKinney who with James Corrigan founded the Wickliffe Stable about five years ago will return to the turf with a small but select stable of horses next year if he can gather around him the racing material that suits him It will only IK a change of heart from his present inclinations if he does not notWhen When I return to the turf said Mr McKinney it will be with a string of horses that one can count on both hands I dont say positively it will be next year lint I am leaning that way just to have a little recreation after a strenuous session of war work My plans are not in any way developed but I feel as if I would like to sse my colors again that were presented to me by my old friend the late Phil Dwyer When I decide to buy horses it will be just a few to amuse myself with and for the associations in turf loin which are so agreeable Now the war is over and my business is getting down to normal I need recreation and 1 dont know a better place to find it than at such splendid establishments as Belmant Park Saratoga and other race courses in this country countryAbout About ten horses is all a man needs to fill the desired bill anil those should b as gMid as the market affords Should one or two of them fail to live up to the standard set my policy will be to sell them and buy two good ones to fill their stalls Next winter if all goes well I suppose there will be racing at Juarez anil I might want to go there for a lew weeks with a small string during the cold days daysSpeaking Speaking of Mexico it is a wonderful countrv continued Mr McKinney There is om 5I10t in Mexico where strawberries grow all the year round and I would not mind if I were there at this mo ¬ ment witii a basket of the lucious little fruit in front of me a pot of that real good coffee one gets there and a cigarette It is a threetime parlay to envied I tell you there is something satis fing to loll around in an easychair with the strawberry coffee and cigarette combination at hand after seeing one or two horses from your stable victorious earlier in the afternoon Such things IMH be and uoi such occasions it makes one feel as if life were wortii living Kven on winner a day carrying your colors is glorv enough to make one contented and satisfied with life lifeThese These are pretty iicturrs hoever which ari easv t paint in ones mind much easier than t bring into reality lait a man will always have a chance with a few horses and I dont think it will be long before I shall again join the ranks and ct more of what man most needs outdoor recreation and mind relief from the cares of a bustling business world
