CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Manister Toi pulls up sore in all his races at the Pair Grounds and is far from the horse he should be. The much-talked-of sister to Exterminator, named I Am First, failed to run to her name in her initial turf appearance at the Fair Grounds Tuesday. She ran last. Jockey Phil Musgrave, recently released from army service, will soon file his application for a jockey license in order to resume riding early the coming spring. James Rowe, chief trainer of the H. P. Whitney horses and manager of the Brookdale Stud, is on his way to Mount Clemens, Midi., for a rest before beginning spring training. The victory of Mile. Dazie, named after a popular dancer, in the first race Tuesday at the Fair Grounds is said to have netted her connections, headed by P. T. Chinu, handsomely. G. A. Shipman and B. L. Johnson have a stable of horses wintering at the Gentlemens Driving Park, Baltimore, in charge of trainer C. Moore. In the string are Marion Hollins, Ceramic, Zinnia, Left Fielder and Gunbearer. Several additions to the stable will be made before tiie Maryland spring season opens. It now develops that the report sent out from New York of the death of steeplechase jockev Harvey Williams was erroneous. Williams, alive and well, writes that he has been working in a shipyard at West Chester, Pa., and Is enjoying the lest of health. He lias signed to ride for William Gartli during the coming season. W. Shea, owner of Tea Caddy, lias been requested to set a price on the .horse, the intending purchaser being desirous of using the fashionably-bred racer for stud purposes. Shea has written to Geo. Strate, in charge of the Wikiup Stud, owned by J. H. Rossitcr, requesting the use of jockey Johnson on Drummond in the Kentucky Derby. The colt is wintering in fine condition and is an intended certain starter in the Louisville much coveted fixture.
