4. . - THE TWO-YEAR-OLDS BILLY KELLY AND PEN ROSE THE LEADERS j OF THE 1918 HORSES IN NUMBER OF RACES WON : : ; r : Last year thirteen horses won ten or more races. Billy Kelly, representing the highest tw6-year-old form of the year; "was the" leader with fourteen clean-cut victories to his credit. Another two-year-old, the fleet and skillfully managed Ally Pen Rose, was second to him with thirteen. Two selling platers, Clark M. and Senator James, were next with a record of each having won twelve. Of the four-which won eleven the noble sprinter" Flags was the star and, in respect to speed, a credit to his young sire Whisk Broom II. The best-class horse in the band of live which won ten races was Bannockburns good sou Slippery Elm, now a star ofNew .Orleans, racing. The English horse, Minto II.. and Sun God weii; also speedy race horses, but inferior to Slippery Elm. In comparison 1917 was decidedly more prolilie in double-figure winners, haying twenty-seven, including such high-class horses as Old Rosebud, Westy Hogan, Tippity Witchet, Cudgel, Fruit Cake and Pan Zareta.
