E B McLEANS PROSPECTS FOR 1919 The Porter and Old Leouhares Main Dependence of the Stable Will Begin at Pimlico NEW YORK N Y March 19 Investigation dis ¬ closes the fact that Edward B McLean will notstart the racing season this year with a pretentious listof horses in the flat division though lie may make additions later on which will bring the string up to the mark At this writing he has but two eandi dutes for this years honors which are worthy of special comment old Leochures and The Porter It may be his threeyearold Uncle White will be n better colt than he was last year but this of course is problematical There are but two two yearolds bred by Mr McLean and of these John Schorr their trainer says little in fact he con ¬ fesses he has a rather weak stable so far outside of The Porter and Leochares As soon as thfi spring arrjves however said the trainer Mr McLean will be on the lookout for a good horse or two to strengthen the string in which at the present time there are eleven head Unless we get some more in the stalls and good ones it is im ¬ probable Mr McLean will be as successful as he was last year in winnings winningsIn In 1918 the stable won twentynine races was second in twentyeight third in twentythree and earned 35905 That was pretty good considering tin fact there were no Billy Kellys Eternals Cudgels or Roamers in the collection It was the first year Mr McLean has had any signs of suc ¬ cess with his racing stable It is satisfying to say that the horses have wintered exceptionally well and will be seen at Pimlico but hardly before that meeting After Pimlico we shall go to Kentucky and then to Saratoga By that time I hope to have a few more good horses Should Mr McLean ht able to procure what he wants the stable will be pretty strong especially as we will have our own rider in Lunsford
