CANADA AND 1919 RACING The Canadian tracks are preparing for racing this year It is expected that the order in council prohibiting racing will be lifted when the peace treaty is signed though no agreement witli the Canadian government lias been reached as rumor had it Secretary AA P Frascr of the Ontario Jockey Club told our correspondent at Toronto Tuesday that no arrangement had IHMMI made with the government but that when the peace treaty was signed the Ontario Jockey Club exi ects to make its announcement of the usual spring meet ¬ ing at Woodbine beginning May 24 Messrs Northoy of Montreal and Louden of Hamilton confirmed the statement that nothing definite had been done by their associations but agreed with the Toronto plans plansThe The morality crowd has again spread its cam ¬ paign against racing in Ottawa and its organs are viciously assailing tho sport In the meantime it is known that agents of the Canadian clubs are doing missionary work in the east and Kentucky looking toward the recruiting of crews for the pari mutuel machines and among the horsemen of the best class for entries to the races which may come when the ban is lifted
