LATEST NEWS OF LOUISVILLE TRACKS Colonel Livingston Shows Improvement Kildare Boy Pulls Up Lame After WorkOut at the Downs LOUISVILLE Ky April 10 B J Brannons crack threeyearold gelding Colonel Livingston is getting on remarkably well since he was fired about two weeks ago and his owner believes lie will be able to return him to training by the time the Churchill Downs meeting opens and hopej to have him ready to race at the Latonia meeting G Bruce Head who in partnership with J Oliver Keene owns the Waldeck Stable was a visitor to Churchill Downs yesterday morning having Just returned from a business trip to St Louis LouisTex Tex Foreman is well satisfied with the manner in which his Derby eligible Iwiniwin is goiiig along in his trainfng Yesterday at Douglas Park the Californiabred colt worked an easy fiveeighths in a fraction less than 105 over a muddy track The colt runs with an even stride and appears like one that could pack weight and run fast and far Among farAmong the jockeys now at the local tracks who will apply for licenses to ride this year in Kentucky are Earl Pool who will ride for B J Brannon Harry Gray under contract to Dan Lchan Johnnie Daniels who has been engaged to ride for C C Van Meter Sherman Wostenholm who is attached to the stable of W F Knebelkamp Walter Lilley who will ride for J L Paul Jack Hanover under engagement to ride for John W Schorr Harry Luns ford who will pilot the horses of Edward B McLean L Canfield who will ride under the tute ¬ lage of Jim Everman and Claude Hunt who will try to stage a comeback this spring He will do most of the riding for the stable of Joe Umensetter Jockey UmensetterJockey Bryant Ott who was formerly attached to the stable of George J Long and who has been witli the American forces in France for some time is due to return to Louisville in a few weeks when he will again be employed by the Long stable stableKildare Kildare Boy which proved such a good bread ¬ winner at New Orleans for his owner W F Knebelkamp pulled up lame after being galloped yesterday at the Downs and an examination dis ¬ closed the fact that the horse was Iwing bothered with the ailment to liis right front knee that put him on the shelf early last year The ailment however is not of a serious nature and it is be ¬ lieved he will soon overcome it itMinnie Minnie K a fouryearold Transvaal marc lias been shipped to John Wiggins Military Stock Farm to be bred to one of Mr Wiggins stallions The mares retirement from racing was due to the fact that she would not stand up under active training
