DUNBOYNE IS IN RACING CONDITION Last Years Futurity Winner Works Fast Mile at Jamaica Latest Metropolitan Turf Goisip NEW YORK N Y April 23 P A Clarks good threeyearold Dunboyne last years Futurity winner which is eligible for both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes was taken from relmont Park to thn Jamaica track yesterday for a work His trainer William Hogan sent him a mile In the presence of his owner Dunboyne started at the mile post and was followed alwmt two lengths away by Merry Princess Dunboyne hail Ensor in the saddle carrying alxnit 111 pounds He was in restraint throughout going the first half mile in 49 and finishing out the mile in 1411 pulling up the mile and an eighth in 150 It was by fur the best work seen around here this year Preston Burch watched the effort closely and pronounced it exceedingly impressive impressiveIt It was just about the same sort of work that George Smith and The Finn used to do at this time of the year said Mr Burch It settles the fact in my mind that Dunboyne will go a long route It was one of those steady trials which indicate a good horse It was an exceptional per ¬ formance not from a time standpoint as much as the way he handled himself He looks as if he could run all day There have been rumors Dun boyne will not go to Kentucky for the Derby After yesterdays work Mr Clnrk may change his mind for Dunboyne would certainly be a worthy repre ¬ sentative in any company companyIn In speaking of the Sanford stable of horses which aro located fit Jamaica Mr Burch said he did hot know just where Mr Sanford would start operations as lie was waiting to hear from him on that sub ¬ ject I have half a dozen horses ready to race and if Mr Sanford so decides they will be sent to Pimlico If not Ave shall not do anything until Jamaica opens on May 15 Jamaica has been a fiiie training ground not a sick horse having been re ¬ ported I might say ill conclusion that I have not seen a horse work around here nearly as good as did Dunboyne DunboynePURCHASE PURCHASE AND CIRRUS WORK WORKThe The main course at Belmont Park was closed to trainers today and all work was done on the training track Sam Hildreth speeded Purchase and Cirrus for the first time this year Purchase going a mile in 143 and Cirrus in about the same time The latter followed Purchase throughout be ¬ ing about twenty lengths behind him It was a good showing considering the state of the track Omar Khayyam and AVesty Hogan were also sent a mile They were alone and both traveled the route in 143 Judging from the size of the rider of Omar lie probably carried 130 pounds Both are ready for Pimlico if Mr Viau decides to go there thereMax Max Hirsch will ship to Pimlico with the T oft stable on Friday and Thomas Healey is preparing to go tomorrow Witli about six of the older horses belonging to R T Wilson including Corn Tassel and Thundercloud Judging from the apjwarancc of their horses neither Thomas Welch nor A J JovJier will show anything berore the opening of the reason at Jamaica JamaicaAckley Ackley C Schuyler whose body was taken from the Hudson River two days ago a presumed suicide was a member of several racing associations here ¬ abouts though he had been absent for the past yedr or two H was better known in the world of trotting horsemen however being one of the original members of the Now York Drivers Association AssociationCornelius Cornelius Fellowes decided to sell the horses run ¬ ning in his colors owing to his preparing to employ most of his time In the club bouse this year handling commissions The sale and transfer to the Kentucky Stable Averemade through the agency of W L Powers
