HAVANA TO BE WINTER RACING MECCA LOUISVILLE Ky May 12 Former Congress ¬ man George W Loft owner of Papp and other gtiod race horses who came here with Harry Payne Whitneys party departed yesterday for Baltimore In commenting on the rumored sale of the Havana track to himself and associates he said The deal is still pending and will probably be consum ¬ mated before long If we take over the property it is our intention to expand in every possible fashion There will be no purse of less than 750 value and sceral stakes will be announced including two of 10000 added each Ultimately it is our aim to make Havana the racing Mecca in winter and bring it to a Saratoga standard Our earlier ef ¬ forts might result in some losses but eventually it will prove a winner If flie track is taken over by us there will be ho dual system of betfing as at present in use tlie bookmaking system will be abolished and the mntuel system the only method by which wagering will be indulged
