AN OLD ESTABLISHED AMERICAN STAKE The Coaching Club American Oaks won by P A Clarks Polka Dot Saturday at Belmont Park is olio of the oldest fixtures of American racing It was formerly the Singleton Cup which was fiist won by Kosciuskp in Charleston in 1832 The famous trophy became the property of the Coaching Club a few years ago The Oaks was inaugurated in 1917 and the Singleton Cup and a silver trophy donated to it To get the rare old relic the stake must be won three times by the same owner but a silver cnp goes with each victory as well as the winners share A Aof of the stakes
