LIBERTYVILLE TROUBLES IN SIGHT There are some obstacles in the way of the pro ¬ posed race meeting announced to begin at Liberty ville omorrow Racing in Illinoisiis perfectlylwal Betting on racing contests in a public or profes ¬ sional way is not The Libertyville promoters in ¬ tend to use the Bowie system or totalizator method of wagering on the races This system is extremely public Urged by the Lake County Law and Order League of which Rev T R Quayle is superintend ¬ ent and spokesman AttorneyGeneral Brundage yesterday gave orders to his investigating depart ¬ ment to be at the Libertyville race track Friday to obtain evidence upon which to base prosecutions for gambling attemptedThe if it is attempted The attorneygeneral will if gambling is found to exist proceed against the officers and directors of the track among whom are several prominent Lake County citizens citizensSome Some seventyfive race horses of the lower class with their attendants owners and attaches have been arriving at Libertyville for the past two days and the half niile track with anything but safe turns for thoroughbred racing is in as good order as such a course can be put There is also another difficulty in the way So far Jim OLeary chief promoter has not been able to secure special trains through the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul rail ¬ way anil yesterday it was not considered likely that such special service could be obtained The United States government still controls the railroads and will hardly give special service for such amusement purposes This is a sharp obstacle though the trolley service to Libertyville is fair fairTony Tony Wallace and James Osborne who are to judge and start the races arrived in Chicago from Cincinnati yesterday and are on the ground Enough horses are also there for Fridays races which are likely to be run and attract a holiday crowd But if public betting either by bookmaking or the total ¬ izator system is attempted there will be legal trouble for the promoters promotersTherefore Therefore there are some rocks in Libertyvilles racing channel and its snort stream is not likely to be full or smooth This is as it should be There is not much idea of racing contention or improvement of the breed of horses about the proposed race meeting There is a general aspect of speculation with uncertain tools on its every side Racing will be benefited if it expires after a feeble and un ¬ natural birth
