ORBYS RACING INCONSISTENCY Orby Richard Crokers IrishAmerican stallion which is in the lead as the sire of winners of Eng ¬ land this year was an exceptionally fast horse but was troubled with poor hoofs which caused him at two years of age to give some disappoint ¬ ing displays in public after being highly tried in private His first nice was at Leopardstown Ire ¬ land in the Londonderry Plate for which he started at 3 to 1 on and was beaten by two lengths and a short head by Gleg and Affiant In a private trial for this race Orby was pitted against two good handicap horses one a five and the other a fouryearold Orby was asked to give the older horse fourteen and the other twentyeight pounds and he won pulling up yet was beaten vastly by a colt of his owu age in the race at level weights The trial horse which had twenty eight pounds allowance from Orby when the latter won met Orbys conqueror a mouth before the Londonderry Plate and gave him fourteen pounds and a beating by two lengths and a half Orbys next start at two yean also resulted in a third and he did not race again until he was a threeyearold when he won four races out of five starts which included the Epsom Derby of 1907 That was the last of him on tUe turf which resulted in four wina uad two tulrds out of seven races for 36200
