METROPOLITAN IDEAS OF MISS JEMIMA NEW YORKr N Y July 28 Miss Jeminm has not given convincing proof that she can cope suc ¬ cessfully with some of the eastern fillies in her division This was the consensus of opinion of the experts who watched her race closely in the East View Stakes at Empire City Saturday That she is a good filly and probably can do better tliari slie did when put to tlie real test is generally con ¬ ceded This opinion is backed by the fact that she first ran Carmandale into defeat covering the first quarter of a mile in 22 seconds according to unofficial clockers nhd afterward ran away from Foodor which challenged at the eighth post and loomed up dangerously close at that point Miss Jemima however had something in reserve for when Lof tus called upon her she answered in resolute fashion or else Feodor died away rapidly It may have been a little of both but that Miss Jcmitna is a game and speedy filly she demonstrated expressively She will have four or five fast fil ¬ lies to meet at Saratoga in Cobwebs Panoply and Bonnie Mary and it may be Cinderella will also be a contender for filly honors Then there is the other westerner Major McDowells Distinction Any one of these could have done what Miss Jemima did in the East View Stakes as neither Krewer Carmandule or Feodor can be compared with the five mentioned Canvassing the expert price makers around the local tracks they were unanimous that Bonnie Mary Cobwebs and Panoply would be fav ¬ ored over Miss Jemima when they meet the first time
