AUSTRALIAN SWEEPS RICH RETURNS Lucky Holder of Winning Tickets Draw Huge Sums for Small Stakes StakesSYDNEY SYDNEY N S W Australia July 12 The so called racing sweeps are most popular in all the big towns of all the Australasian colonies They attract speculators for small amounts from all corner of every province In a recent sweep over the Adelaide South Australia Cup in which the placed horses were Independence King of the Sea and Wee Gun there were 50000 tickets at 125 each sold The pool was thus 02500 The win ¬ ning ticket paid 15225 to E Davis Home Rule New South Wales That on King of the Sea fell to T P Coyne of North Auburn New South Wales and realized 5220 and a Mrs Eliza Lamb of Dunedin New Zealand drew Wee Gun and 3045 3045Over Over the Sydney Cup race in which the placed horses were Ian Or NIghtwatch and Arch Marella 100000 tickets at 125 each were in the pool of 125000 A woman Mrs K Robertson Bank New Zealand drew Ian Or and the chance paid her 21750 Nightwatch fell to four partners and was worth 7830 while another woman Mrs R foolbank Molong New South Wales held the ticket ou Arch Marella which paid 4350 4350In In the Newcastle Cup sweep with 100000 tickets also of 125 each and a 125000 pool Mount Alf Kennequhair and Laddie Blue were the place horses The winning slip was drawn by R Audley Albert Park Victoria and was worth 21750 The Kennequhair place ticket paid H Clifton of pubbo New South Wales 7830 and the chance of Laddie Blue was drawn by E E Sabicn of Coraki New South Wales and gave the holder 4350
