Won easily; second and third driving. RIFLE, favored by the going, raced into a long lead in the early running and was under restraint through the final quarter. POACHER raced under slight restraint until entering the stretch, then moved up gamely when called on, but tired badly in the last sixteenth and just lasted long enough to withstand GRUNDYS challenge. The latter was hard ridden all the way, closed up gamely in the stretch and was wearing POACHER down in the final strides. NIGHTSTICK, high in flesh, lacked early iqmed,. but fin -ished well. HARWOOD showed the most early speed, but struck the tenth fence and lost ground, then challenged the leader again at the fifteenth jump, but tired in the final drive. HIS CHOICE, shuflloled back on the turn out of the backstretch, gained steadily on the inside and, finishing fast and gamely, outstayed SIMPLETON in the final drive. SIMPLETON, after racing in close pursuit of the leader, took the lead in the stretch, but was tiring in the closing strides. HERD GIRL raced clear of interference, finished in the best going and came with a rush near the end. HURRY closed a big gap and made a game effort at the eighth post, but tired in the closing strides. NORTHERN BELLE began slowly rtntl rushed around the leaders in the early running into the lead, but quit badly in the last eighth. FAIT ACCOMPLI set a fast early pace, but was crowded back and eased up in the homestretch. AIR RAID was cut down and was destroyed. The winner, entered for ,000, was. bid up to ,005 and bought in. THUNDERCLAP, after racing in nearest pursuit of the leader, passed her and drew away when entering the stretch, then responded gamely to punishment when challenged and was going away in the closing strides. SPUR closed up rapidly at the eighth post, but tired badly when he got into some muddy going. FAIRY WAND siiowed the most speed for three-quarters, but quit in the soft going in the stretch. CHASSEUR set a fast pace, but tired when challenged. JOYFUL began poorly and moved up fast on the backstretch, but fell back 011 the last turn and quit when called on for a final effort. MORMON ELDER, unprepared at the start, closed a big gap. HONG KONG had no mishaps. APT. ALCOCK, 011 the outside of the leaders on the backstretch in the best going, raced into a good lead after entering the stretch, but tired slightly and had to be shaken up at the finish. GRAYS-SIAN came around WILDAIR in the last eighth and, finishing witli a rush, outstayed him at the end. WILDAIR was hard ridden all the way and tired in the final eighth.
