POOR JUDGED RIDE BEATS BILLY KELLY HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., September 23. Mud runners had an opportunity of showing at their best at Havre de Grace this afternoon. The heavy rains which fell last night and continued during the day made the going deep mud. Well matched fields went to the post and a majority of the winners were forced to stand hard drives to beat their opponents by small margins. S. Ross furnished the winner of the feature race, the Yarrow Rrae Handicap, when Crank beat the poorly ridden Rilly Kelly by a length. The latter raced wide all the way and lost much ground when entering the homestretch, where the winner came through on the inside. The colors of Senor A. II. Diaz were seen in front in the Hartford Junior Purse when the Cuban turfmans Rlue AVrnck beat the favorite. My Laddie, in a fast run race considering the going. Flare took the measure of Crest Hill in the steeplechase in a manner that suggests that Griffith lias another star among the junipers. G. AV. Forinan added the plater John Cullman to his already extensive string. He obtained the horse by private purchase of Edward McRride. P. Sniythe, who had the mount on the Kings Plate winner at the Rlue Ronnets track, Montreal, this fall, was an arrival. He will school some jumpers for J. Kermath at Laurel. J. F. Dayton purchased Aigilante of Richard Pending with the idea of making a steeplechaser of him. Vigilante is to take the place of Otto Floto, which broke his leg the other day in a jumping race run at Havre de Grace. Melancholia and High Olympus have been added to the schooling list by starter James Milton. Roth are particularly bad post actors.
