. LONG DISTANCE RACING "AT" PIMLICO: Bowie and Pimlico Cups Attractive Becord-Breaking Entry List of the Best Horses, BALTIMORE, Md., October 22. Long distance racing in the east will reach the summit of excellence while the horses are at Pimlico in November for the full meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club, which will begin on the 1st of November and run eleven days. All the best, long distance runners that have lingered about New York for the fall meetings of the Metropolitan and Queens County Jockey Clubs and the Empire City Racing Association will have assembled in Maryland by the end of next week. There will bo no racing in Kentucky after the last week of October. The two great long distance races for horses three years old and over to be decided at Pimlico in November are the 0,000 Bowie Cup, a handicap at one mile and a half, and the ,000 Pimlico Cup, a handicap at two miles and a quarter. The Bowie is a long-established special of country-wide popularity. It lias been won by some famous horses in the past, notably Zeus, Fitz Herbert, Westy Hogan, George Smith, Buskin, Stromboli, Short Grass and Flying Fairy. The Pimlico Cup is a brand-new race. It will have its inaugural running next month. The Bowie has attracted 109 nominations, the Pimlico Cup 1C0. One hundred nominations is something of a record for a two mile and a quarter race to le run in November. Prominet among the formidable eli-giblcs for the Bowie and the Pimlico Cups are Fairy Wand, Nutcracker, Be Frank, Kashmir, Cudgel, Sir Barton, Boniface, Foreground, Conduit, Lucullite, Valor, Thunderclap. Mail Hatter, Corn Tassel, Exterminator, Sun Briar, Lillian Shaw, Translate, Woodtrap, Midway, Ophelia. Blairgowrie, LErrant, Rapid Day, Sunnyland and Trojau.
