CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF The crack mud runner Osgood is quartered at Jefferson Park and will be ready for the bugle call on Thanksgiving day. It will take a shifty sort of a racer to beat Osgood over a muddy track. Included among the yearlings A. L. Kirby has quartered at New Orleans is one by Jim Gaffney Mary Day, dam of Blackie Daw, Violet Bonnie and other .good racers. Mary Day died when this youngster was born. It. Yeargins, an eighty-pound apprentice rider, under contract to A. Plicque, will be given an opportunity to show his ability in the saddle during the New, Orleans racing. Yeargins made a good impression riding at the fair meeting in Kentucky during the summer and fall.
