HAVANA RACES RUN ON HEAVY TRACK Mud Runners Heavily Backed W. Crump Hides Two Winners Live Gossip. HAVANA, Cuba, December 10. Todays races at Oriental Iark were run over a heavv track. The original fourth race was declared off and a claiming race of five and a half furlongs was substituted. The track just suited mud runners and horses that fancied that sort of going were heavily supported. The best finish of the afternoon came with the running of the fifth, a dash of 0110 ami one-sixteenth miles, which was won by Corydmi, lieating Don Thrush three parts of a length. Magnet Land, which finished third, was beaten the same margin for second place. Col. Lilian! was given little consideration in the opener, but he led all the way and held Major Bradley, the favorite, safe when the latter challenged in the final eighth. The second race was devoid of interest, principally because King Tuscan was much best and made si shmv of his opponents. He raced King AVorth into defeat after going a half and then easily drew away into a safe-, lead. First Pullet accounted for the third, encountering little or no opposition, and her rider was easing her up at the end. while Ambassador III. and Leoti Fay were having a royal battle for second honors, the former prevailing by a nose. Jockey AA. Crump rode two of the days winners, Col. Lillard in the first and Fickle Fancy in the fourth. Jockey J. Ransch, at one time one of the best riders in the raited States, who afterward- rode successfully on many European tracks, had his first mount of this meeting when lie rode Frascuelo in the second race. F. Boughsman sold Twenty Seven to O. L. Fosltir at private sale. E. AV. AVhitney purchased from the AVUHnms Brothers stable the good plater Lariat, which horse has heen turned over to II . AV.
