ENGLISH HORSE PRICES RUN HIGH , Newmarket Winter Sales for First Two Days Dispose of 223 Animals. LONDON, England, December 4. The Newmarket winter sales began on Monday and the same high average of prices as have ruled during the year was kept up. The first days action was slow, anil atrocious weather kept the attendance down. But during the session eighty horses were sold for 04,790, an average of nearly ,060. Major Rutherfords .Sentiment, the seven-year-old daughter of Spearmint and Flair, by St. Frusquin, also topped the 5,000 mark. Of the 143 lots lisposed of twenty-five passed four figures.
