ARTILLERYMAN AND RICHMOND MAIN SYDNKV, N. S. W., November 10. The Australian three-year-olds Artilleryman and Richmond Main have already established themselves as great colts and rivals. Their battles are reminiscent of those in 1887 between James Whites champion. Abercoin. and The Australian Peer. They have met six times in races. In 1 lie first, in the Kosehill Guineas. Artilleryman was third and Richmond Main fifth. Then came.the great struggle in the Australian Jockey Club Derby, in which the judge could not separate them. The third meeting was in the Caulfield Guineas, which Artilleryman won, with Richmond Main third. Then the Victoria Derby was won by Richmond Main, with Artilleryman second. In the Victoria Derby Artilleryman won from Richmond Main, though this time there was a bigger gap between them, with the time a record for the great race.
