- : w WARNING TO FAIR ASSOCIATIONS Rule of One Meeting a Year Must Be Observed to Avoid Action on Part of Jockey Club. The December issue of the Racing Calendar sets forth the action taken by the stewards of the Jockey Club in the case of the Hagerstown Fair Association of Hagerstown, Maryland, in holding two meetings of five days each during the year 1019 in violation of tlie regulation of the stewards of the Jockey Club as to state and county fairs. Here it is: "Resolved. That as the meetings were held under a misunderstanding, no action be taken against the owners, trainers, horses and jockeys which participated at these meetings, but attention is called to the following resolution of the stewards of the Jockey Club, and especial attention is called to the fact " that such meetings must be held by and in the interest of the fair association, and but one meeting may be given in each year. "1. Resolved. That where races are held under the auspices of a bona fide . fair association, in connection with the interests of the fair association itself, and not of a lessee, the Jockey Club will not grant a license, but will not take cognizance of such races as being In violation of their rules, provided, however, that no other irregularities come to their attention, and provided tlie meeting does not continue in any one year for more than five days. "2. Resolved. That the associations, holding race meetings under a license from the Jockey Club be warned that any dates granted shall not be construed as extending a meeting for racing as a state or county fair or horse show. "3: Resolved. That associations holding race meetings under the above named provisions be warned -that extending any meeting beyond the five days will be considered as holdiiij unrecogized meetings, and attention is called to Rules 33 A, It and C of the Rules of Racing. ! ""And the assistant secretary "was" further instructed to send a copy of this resolution to the Hagerstown Fair Association."
