II; Armenia Stable* King James filly Lackawanna accounted for the Panama Handicap, the main attraction of the Sunday program at Oriental Park. However, once i;i h.-r stride she worked her way up on tho outside and in a terrific burst of speed snatched victory from Tranby in the last fear strides. In th - following race IUaze.-iway was the fancied one, and the old plater made good in decisive fashion, h-ading ihroughout without ever being extended. Sister Su-ie- attempt to make it three straight failed, although -he ran a fine race. Had not Pickens used her too much in racing Bettertou into defeat iu the early -tages she might have been able to -uccessfully resist the clo ing challenge of Star Baby and Phcdodcn. As it was she finished third, while Star Baby barely outstayed Phedoden for first honors. W. F. Pol-ous Venghec appeared to sulk and ran pearly in the fourth race. f. r which he was a warm tavorire. The winner turned up iu Regre-o. which set a fust pace and althougli tiring held on long enough to get the decision.
