CALIFORNIA YOUNGSTERS IN TRAINING Band of Honeywood Colts and Fillies Being Shaped at Sacramento. SAN" FRANCISCO. Cal.. January 5. —The p.-rform ance of the Honeywood colt Fort Churchill at Ha vana has attracted attention to the thoroughbreds being raised at the Nevada Stock Farm, n.-ar Reno, and develojied at Sacramento. Cal. Westwood. Wa -terford and other young horses had already shown that Honeywood has the knack of imparting his speed to his progeny. Nine two-year-olds, seven fillies and two colts, by Honeywood are being educated and trained at Sacramento. They will lie campaigned next spring. A bay colt, dam Island Queen, sister to Billy Kelly, i* the most promising of the band. Mr. Wingfield also has twenty yearlings at the Sacramento track, the youngsters being by Honeywood anil Atheling. which he brought over several years ago. Much is expected from the progeny of Atheling. His first crop will race next year. The following Banana for the Wingfield two-year-olds have been approved: Honey Island, by Honeywood— Island Queen, bv Dick Welles. Ilanton. b. f. by Honeywood -Jeanne dArc. by Ben Strome. Deutschland. the will remembered son of Sain — Der-fargilla. bred by the late Barney Schreiber. was shipped to the Hawaiian Islands three years ago.
