FOAL REGISTRATION SMALL LAST YEAR NKW YORK. X. Y.. January 10. Considerable concern is felt by hot semen in this district, owing to the small number of registration- last year, compared with other years. Ijist year there were but 1,796 foals entered on the registration books, against 1.923 in 1910. 2.42S in 1910 and 4.415 iu 1905. In speaking of the incident Mr. Rowe. the registrar. attributes the shortage to the years of war and the -canity of mare-, brought about by tin- Hughes legislation in 190H. It is generally believed, however, that the minimum has been reached, and that henceforth registration will not only increase, but the breed considerably improve, owing to the great number of horses brought here from abroad during the past four years. At the pre sen! moment, however, and for the next year or two, there may be a -e.ircity of two-year -olds. The broad mares hi longing to the estate of the lite Andrew- Miller will be sold at auction at the John B. Madden sale in Lexington. Ky.. on Thursday, January 22. There are but two. the chestnut mare Jucohei, five year- old. by King .lame- -Cation Belle, the dam being by the BhgUsfa sire St. Catien. The -econd is the nine-year-old mare Curtain by Star Shoo! Real Lace, by Hindoo. The death of John White was reported around town this morning. Mr. White wa- well known in lacing circles SOUM years ago. in the days of the late Tim Sullivan, and was an occasional visitor at the local tracks of late. He had been associated with William Pea in moving picture enterprises.
