FAIR GROUNDS RACING STATISTICS What was without doubt the most successful meeting conducted by the Business Mens Racing Association at the Fair Orounds, New Orleans, came to an end with Tuesdays racing after forty-one days of excellent sport. There were 38V races run and 42,99 distributed in stakes and purses. The daily distribution amounted to $.-...117.7*. a goodly increase over that of last year. The attendance was remarkable considering the great deal of rainy weather encountered. More and better horses took part in the racing than in former years: in fact, there were too many horses available, with the result that the opportunities of quite I large number of good racers were somewhat curtailed. However, the sport was clean and wholesome under the careful supervision of as an ofuYient staff of officials as could he found anywhere. The season did not pass without the discovery of one or two prospective stars of the saddle, both F. Coltiletti and 0. Stack easily coming under that category. To S. A. Clopton fell the honor of leading the money winning owners, with Sl0.til!3 to his credit. Cloptons horses also won the largest numlx-r of races, accounting for thirteen, while 11. I*. Whitneys representatives were second, both in respect to money and races won. Former Senator C. W. Clark made a good showing, his horses winning ,830. Altogether seven owners won over ,000 each, and the following nan 8888 or more: Owner. 1st. Ld. 3d. Amt. Clopton. S. A 13 11 7 S10.023 Whitney. 11. P U S S 9.0S1 Clark. C. W 4 L 1 8.888 Fnrman. «;.
