The- string will start proceedings as soon as Plasties opens its gates f May 1. after which all the- horses will probably be shipped lo Kentucky to race there until the floor of the- I.atonia meeting, when they will lie sent to Saratoga. In the older division of the Mel. can i stable there arc several splendid horses, notably The Porter, one of the lust little handicap horses in tin-country, a horse that carries heavy Impost! with the- same gann ne-ss whether the going be fast ; or heavy. Then comes I.eochare-s. another de-, |iei. daldi- horse, with a burst of speed which at t times seems almost phenomenal.
