PRESIDENT MADIGIN AND FORT ERIE HlFFALO N V March 18 The arrival in town yesterday of John II Madigin president of the Niagara Hacing Association who declares that he is prepared to spend r0000 in rehabilitating the Fort Krie track for racing denies rumors recently circulated that the track across the river would not open this year yearMr Mr Madigin who resides at Fort Krie lias been spending the1 winter months in the south I am at Fort Krie to get the track into condition for our meeting which opens on June Ill he said Oiir stakes will be liberal and our purses in keeping with the highclass racing that has always been witnessed at Fort Krie ever since the Niagara Uae ing Association purchased the property and improved No action against racing lias been taken by parliament yet but of course that doesnt mean that none will be taken The disposition does not seem to be to eliminate tin mile tracks op those bidding membership in the Canadian Hacing Associations the governing turf body of Canada but to better control the sport No track association will object to that so long as the reform does not put us out of business after we have invested thousands of dollars in our enterprise enterpriseCommenting Commenting on Commissioner Huthcrfords report on Canadian racing Mr Madigin said lie considered the report fair though he was disappointed because Dr IJutherford rex rted that the track sicross tin river was owned solely by residents of the United States Mr Madigin who is the largest stock ¬ holder in the Niagara Hacing Association and who lives at Fort Krie where he owns a beautiful home was born in Sinieoe Out and lives and votes at Fort Krie He has asked that that part of Dr Hutherfords report be corrected correctedHumors Humors have been circulated to the effect that Mr Madigin nnd other Canadians have taken over the CeHa estate stock in the Fort Erie track but when asked regarding this Mr Madigin refused to make any comment
