KENTUCKYS BIG HANDICAPS Extraordinary Inducements to Draw Crack Horses of the Day Eight of Such Races Endowed EndowedWith With a Total of 62500 in inAdded Added Money IOriSVILLK Ky March SOThe stable of Ocorse W Loft member of the racing commission of tin State of New York just nrriviil in Ken tiickv lust week from Polmont Turk is the vanguard of in invasion of the Itlue Cniss raing belt which before spring is fjir advanced will iive eclipsed anything of the sort thit lias occurred in past years The rich races for horses three years old and over the Kentucky lockey Clnl closed on March 1 such races as the 10 Kentucky Handicap to lie run at Churchill Downs with the X7r Proctor Knott and the jjCiiMW Clark Handicap the ono Caiudcn Handicap to lie run at Lexington and the S1000 Independence 10000 Daniel Itoonc OilO En liiirer and OIMI Quickstep Handicaps to run at Latonia will make Kentucky racinj in April May and June as attractive to the owners of horses of more mature age as the renewals of the SliOOOO Kentucky Derby loim Latmia Dcrliv 004 Kentucky Oaks and SnOOO Latonia Oaks will Ie to the owners of cherished threeyearolds This springs invasion will therefore lie an invasion of stout and longtried distance running fouryear olds fiveyearoldsgsuul evuJuoldcrhorsJs wJiich ev rv Trim Voicerne is awaiting with flic liveliest interest interestWith With the establishment of Mrs Walter M Jeffords of Philadelphia one of the countrys leading sportswomen and the owner of the highly premising Derby candidate ioldcn Itromii last years winner of the Saratoga Special will come a string of such capable older horses as Dr Johnson Kontledge Star Hampton and Kerensky When II Itedwell comes west with the powerful Derby contingent of the stable of Commander 1 K L ISoss of Montreal he will bring on Sir Itartnn tin winner last year of both the Kentucky l rbv and the Preakuess Stakes also Pilly Kelly Ponifae and War Pennant all of which have wintered splendidly With Dominique hero of last years Walden Stakes at Iimlico Samuel C Hildreth will probably bring on Purchase so far a stranger to western race tracks Liicnilitc star of last years fouryearold division Corn Tassel winner of last years Suburban Handicap Mad Hatter winner of last falls Latonia Championship and Thunderclap winner of the Annapolis Handicap at Laurel Park last October and holder of the new American rec ¬ ord of 1 for one mile and a half Ilildreihs horses have been at Itelmont Park since Novem ¬ ber and they also have wintered well wellKtcrnal Ktcrnal winner of the Irooklyu Handicap of 1 1 will race in Kentucky with the Derby candi ¬ dates the Trout and Hasten On of the stable of James W McClelland but it happens that Ktcrnal will not come on from Havre de Crace with the McClelland threeyearolds lie wintered in the west James Kowe has put by most of tin illus ¬ trious cripples of the stable of Harry Payne Whit ¬ ney but he will bring on from ISrookdale Farm with Dr Clark John P Gricr Leviathan Ipset and Wildair a first rate fouryearold filly in Vexatious a bay daughter of Peter Pan Contrary and the winner last year of the Alabama and Law ¬ rence Realization Stakes StakesBE BE FRANK TO COME WEST AGAIN AGAINCornelius Cornelius M Garrison of New York wiio won last years Latonia Derby and last years Latonia Au tumn Cup with lie Frank so far the best sou of Sir John Johnson has no Derby colt for the coming threeyearold stakes Itnt I5e Frank is in splendid condition at William Jennings farm near Haltimore and he will be coining on toward the end of March lie Frank appears to have a special affinity for the Latonia course He beat Ktcrnal in last summers Lalonia Derby and no less a distinguished runner than Exterminator in the Latonia Autumn Cup Exterminator the only horse of high class past two years old in the stable of Willis Sharpe Kilmer now that Sun liriar has retired will race at both Churchill Downs and Latouia although it is improbable that he can be got ready for the Camdeii Handicap springs renewal of which he won from Midway Exterminator wintered at Sun Itriai Court near liinghamtoii and tin New York winter was unusually severe severeIf If William Karrick succeeds in getting either oC tin promising threeyearolds in the stable of W K Coe ready for early racing he will bring Over There which finished first in last falls renewal of the Lawnnee Realization only to be disqualified rot fouling Thunderstorm and Natural Pridge west with them Karricks threeyearold prospects are the filly Cleopatra which won the Champagne Stakes at Pclmont Park last fall and David Harum a son of Star Shoot Karrick trained Thunderclap the better part of last year with Over There and Natural Iridge and always considered them better than tin Vulcaiu colt Natural Pridge was getting ready for the rOOOd Latonia Cham pionship Stakes when he fell lame at Saratoga last summer Kdward Itcalc Mclxans The Porter was never better than he is this spring The Porter wintered at old Penning track trackMost Most of these proved longdistance runners will train in Kentucky in April The winter has been so unpropit ons in the north and east that horses of all ages are three or four weeks behind as regards condition They will be coming on from Maryland and New York every week or so now experience having taught that training in Kentucky in March and April is easier than it is nearer the ocean There are not so many dangerous changes If however the horses are unusually backward this spring it happens that they are all in about the same condition No group from one part of the country seems to have anything on a group from anotheV section They will meet therefore in Ken ¬ tuckys rich and valuable stakes on evciijterniK and they ought to make the racing its keen tndihterest ing as a number of thoroughly seasoned campaigner would
