SIMPLETON A MYSTERIOUS HORSE Simpleton which was owned by Mr Wilson last year was the most mysterious horse on the turf If he were suffering from a physical ailment he gave no inkling of it and if he were not he was a downright dishonest horse He completely baffled Thomas Ilealey who has trained horses for Mr Wilson for twentyfive years In his trials he did everything a real good horse should do lie ran fast and far on iny kind of n track He ate well worked well walked well and slept well Hut he would not race well Karly in the spring he was the pride of the stabfe Several times he covered five eighths of a mile in u minute but in his races he always ran several seconds slower He disappointed his owner and trainer so often that they became disgusted with him and sold him for onetenth of what they thought he was worth in tiie spring The colt might be suffering from some internal trouble New York Sun and Herald
