MCLELLANDS STABLE NUMBERS SIXTY AH but Nine Are TwoYearOlds Trainers and Jockeys Granted Licenses NEAV YORK N Y April James AV McClel ¬ land was In New York today fresli from Havre dfi Grace where he had been to look over his string of nearly forty horses which have wintered on the shores of the Susqiiehanna River He reports them in excellent condition as well as all others now at the Harford County track trackAll All told we have more than sixty horses in training and with the exception of eight or ninu all are twoyearolds said Mr McClelland McClellandIf If looks are an indication I think we have a fine hand of young horses and some of them can run But all the horses seem to have a running fit on them Old Rosebud is tearing it off as he did when a twoyearAd and Eugene AVayland has his two threeyearolds Ilobey Baker and My Laddie moving along as if they threaten to do things when the time comes for action It would not surprise me in the least to see at least one of them start in the Kentucky Derby But the most promising Derby candidate in Maryland seems to be Com ¬ mander Ross Constancy They tell me she is working fine in fact it is reported she has worked a mile at Laurel in 1 2 Some seem to think Bcdwell is fitting her for the Derby But of all the horses I have seen Damask is the one that will take some beating He can do almost anything asked of him and it will not IK surprising to see him put in some sensational trial for tin race His only trouble is his nervousness while in the paddock paddockThe The Havana special has arrived from Cuba with Blue AVrack aboard All the horses stood the trip well wellThe The stewards have been appointed to represent The Jockey Club at the eastern meetings as follows Jamaica W S Voxburgh Belmont Park F R Hitchcock Aqueduct 1 E
