PROTEST AGAINST PADDOCK JUDGE LKXIXGTOX Ky April 17 Objection to Dr S A Bradley selection lo be paddock judge on the Kentucky race tracks his been lodged witli the Slate Kacing Cotimi sioi by the State Hoard of Veterinary Examiners The commission in writ ¬ ing by Secretary Westmoreland has been informed that Dr Iradley whose home is at Louisville is not eligible to praevi veterinary surgery in Kentucky and that should he undertake to perform duties required of him under the rules of tin State Itacing Commission he would violate a state law It is required by the State Racing Commis ¬ sions rules that the paddock judge shall be a graduate veterinary surgeon surgeonInasmuch Inasmuch as the commission has named two pad ¬ dock judges one of whom is Dr J T Chawk of Louisville against whom no objection has been re ciived it may if it desired to do so designate Dr Chawk as the paddock judge and instruct him lo make all of the necessary examinations of horses that are to race anil designate Dr Bradley as assistant to the paddock judge with instruc ¬ tions to make no examinations but to direct the saddling mounting and parading from the paddock It is not necessary that the assistant be a graduate veterinary surgeon Such service was performed at latonia by tin late Mickey Shannon during the administration of Dr M M Ioach as paddock judge Xo complaint was made by the state board of veterinary examiners because they had no right register a complaint against the of an assistant whose duties do not call for the practice of veterinary operation
