MODIFICATION OF A RULE ASKED LKXIXGTOX Ky May 13 Persons having con ¬ tracts on riders are loudly voicing tlieir disapproval of rule 254 of the Kentucky State Itacing Commis ¬ sions racing laws ami rules which reads Dur ¬ ing the term of suspension of any jockey owner trainer or other person on any race traek in Kcu trcky under the jurisdiction of this commission liis budge shall be taken up and ho be refused admis ¬ sion to any part of the course courseThis This rule became operative for the first time at tht recent Lexington meeting to the extent that boys who came under the ban were not permitted even to exorcise horses during the morning for their contract employers The contention is made tint in violation of the snilit of rule 248 men and boys who have been ruled off the turf ire permitted to work in the stables and to exercise 1crses and that if this newest rule is to ho so rigidly enforced the older rule also should be enforced The owners and trainers say they liave no objection to the punishment of their riders when punishment is deserved but they feel that exclusion from tho grounds during racing hours should bi the limit of such punishment when they are merely under suspension for n given number of days because to keep Ihem away from the course nthlily deprives the owners and trainers of their assistance when really they aro most needed It is pointed out that competent help in the stables and toj the exercise of horses is now difficult to obtain The State Itacing Commission will lie asked t modify the rule to apply only to the hours of
