WONDERFUL MEETING AT AQUEDUCT QUEENS COUNTY JOCKEY CLUB PROVIDES SEVENTEEN DAYS OF HIGHCLASS RACING 182325 DIS ¬ TRIBUTED IN STAKES AND PURSES Seventeen days of highclass racing was provided by the Queens County Jockey Club at its popula Aqueduct course the meeting beginning on June 24 and ending July 13 There were 102 races run in ¬ cluding twenty stake features and the goodly sum of 182325 distributed among the successful horse ¬ men The daily average distribution amounted to 10723 Not since the prosperous years of the turf in 1905 1900 and 1907 were seen such crowds as witnessed the racing at Aqueduct The daily attend ¬ ance was exceptionally large and on Saturdays the home of tho Queens County Jockey Club was entirely inadequate to accommodate the great gatherings that assembled there The outstanding incident of the meeting was Man p Wars wonderful performance in the Dwyer Shakes in which he defeated John P Grier in one of the most thrilling races seen on the American turf in years and in so doing established a new American record for a mile and an eighth The attendance on that occasion was estimated at 40000 S C Hildreth by virtue of Cirrus two brilliant victories in the Brooklyn and Queens County Han ¬ dicaps finished at the top of the list of the win ¬ ning owners witli H P Whitney a close second The following are the owners Avho won 500 or more each eachOwner Owner
