SARATOGA FAVORITES DAY Dinna Care Easily a Victor in the theExpectation Expectation Stakes First Choices Take Nearly All the theRaces Races Rockland Defeats Pan Pantalette talette Gossip of the Track SARATOGA X Y August 3 There was nothing outstanding in connection with todays racing and a somewhat offday air prevailed throughout The Expectation Stakes at one mile having a net value of 2175 was the headline and it brought out a quartet of threeyearolds of whkh Dinna Care carrying the silks of the Glen Riddle Farm proved easily best and won after having led the entire distance He was followed home by Ethel Gray the Montfort Jones filly beating Marianne off for second place and Feodor the only other starter followed the others far back Diuna Care was an outstanding favorite and Sande his rider allowed him to go to the front at once and kept him there throughout Ethel Gray after being far back for a half mile moved up rapidly on the last turn bnt the winner held her safe Ethel Gray did not strip as well as she appeared in Kentucky KentuckyThe The Montfort Jones colors howover flashed in front when Rockland a daughter of Friar Rock Belle of Ormonde led a big band of maiden fillies home in the closing dash in which the H P Whit ¬ ney pair Pantalette and Charity were the favored l y Coltilettis action of bringing Pantalette wide on thn stretch turn which enabled Rockland to slip through next to the inner rail and gradually over ¬ haul Pantalette Mavourneen landed third thirdBackers Backers of favorites fared in good style for most of the choices were successful They began auspiciously when Lion dOr cantered home in front of the others in the opening race and followed up this initial success by the victory of Robert Oliver in the steeplechase Gnvnor had extensive backing in the third race and led for the entire way and beat Chevalier home quite easily Tenons Bon also favorite led throughout tin mile race and beat Gex and Tom Saiinders Air Man in this race was bucked extensively bnt refused to leave with the others and was left at the barrier Tenons Bon was claimed by Lewis Gartii for 170 Gex also changed ownership via the same route at a cost of 1905 the Triple Springs Farm taking him and Tom Saiinders was claimed by J G Bussey for 1400 1400Todays Todays normal attendance of regular racing devo ¬ tees was augmented considerably by the arrival of
