JOHN S. REARDON A STAYER Finds Three-Quarters Easy for Him and Wins Cantering. Port Bliss Beaten by the Suddenly Improved Kings Champion in Past Time. M 1 I T I HAMILTON, Ont., August 4. J. MncMnnns promising three-year-old Kings Champion made amends for some of his recent defeats when he be:it a band of good tnilers in tlie fourth race this afternoon. Fort Bliss was a heavily hacked favorite and flattered his hackers by rushing to the front and drawing away into a long lend in the early running. On the far turn Kings Champion moved ;ip with a rush and in the stretch outstayed Fort IHiss and Smart Money in the final drive. The first three were necks apart when they flashed past the judges. Kings Champion was ridden by T. Nolan and ran the mile and seventy yards in 1:45. The Schorr colt John S. Reardon made an exhibition of his opponents in the Nursery Plate, a dash of three quarters for two-year-olds, which he won in runaway fashion. Kennedy rushed him into an easy lead in the first eighth and set a fast pace under restraint until in the final eighth, where he increased his advantage to a half dozen lengths. The race was worth SI, 840 net to the winner. Jockey Heinisoh, who is under contract to G. H. Knebelkamp, will come here Thursday from FoVt Erie, where that stable is being rested. Ross horses until such time as jockey Claver may be restored to good standing. Jockey Claver ivas suspended indefinitely yesterday and his case referred to the Canadian Racing Associations. J. H. Louclieim, accompanied by his wife, was a visitor. They motored np from their home in Philadelphia and will be here for the remainder of the meeting. Phil Hymes was another visitor here this afternoon, having run up from New York to take in a few days racing. Trusty, the defeated favorite in the sixth race yesterday, was claimed by Stuart Polk. Jot-key Heiniseh will report to E. Knebelkamp from Fort Erie tomorrow, to ride here for the remainder of the meeting. His employer, P. Knebelkamp, left Detroit for Saratoga at the conclusion of the Kenilworth meeting to attend the yearling sales which will he held at the Spa during the month of August. Algonquin fell lame this morning and will be retired for the remainder of the racing season.
