Buffalo racegoers "were -given a tre.it tliis afternoon when they saw Commander J. K. L. Rcss champion racer Sir Hnrton In action. The fivt that the son of Star Shoot was carded as a starter in the rich Dominion Handicap was the magnet that drew an immense gathering to Fort Erie. Sir ltarton showed a smashing good performance. He picked up 131 pounds, set n dazzling pace from the start, and won in easy fashion by a length ami a half from Bondage. The official time for the u.ile and a quarter was 2:00, but many of the dockers caught it a full second faster. "When one takes into consideration that the track was fully three seconds slow to the mile, the race was an exceptionally fast one. Edward B. McLeans The Porter furnished keen opposition for seven-eighths, and when he weakened in the stretch run, Bondage moved up with a bold challenge. At the finish he was going the strongest and gradually reducing the gap that separated him from the winner. Sande... 8,450 2:00 Lion dOr, another of the Ross horses, furnished much enthusiasm when he Avon the Buffalo Express Handicap, a dasli of three-quarters of a mile. He carried 132 pounds and, like his stable companion, made all of the pace and beat Cnrmandale by half a length. The attendance was up to the record one of the previous meeting. A big special from Toronto and Hamilton brought down 700 racing enthusiasts and it was necessary to add two extra coaches to the train when it reached Hamilton to accommodate the crowd. JOCKEY MYERS SUSPENDED. Jockey Myers was suspended for three days by the starter and Heinisch was set down for three davs by the stewards for rough riding. Mugivan, in the stable of R. D. Williams, fell lame and will be on the shelf for a week or ten days. Johnny Schorr has arranged to ship Edward B. McLeans good racer The Porter back to Saratoga on Friday. R. F. Carman, Sr., and R. F. Carman, Jr., were arrivals. Their horses have been here for several days. At the conclusion of the Fort Erie meeting the Carman stable will be shipped to Windsor. Commander J. K. L. Ross, accompanied by jockey Earl Sande, were arrivals from Saratoga. Edward F. Whitney was another arrival from the Spa. where he went to attend the yearling sales. Ayhile there he made several purchases. Owen Pons and J. B. Dunn have arranged to ship their horses to Havre de Grace at the conclusion of the Fort Erie meeting. J. Kennedy, who races In partnership with J. It. Dunn, will go to Saratoga to replenish his string. There will he a meeting of the Canadian Racing Associations some time during the meeting at Fort Erie, when the successor of starter James F. Milton will be decided on. Mr. Milton goes to Havre de. Grace at the conclusion of the Ottawa meeting. P. J. Malone, who has acted as agent for F. D. Weir for some years back, got in from Saratoga this morning and will remain for the remainder of the meeting. Frank J. Bruen. general manager of the Cuba-American. Jockey Club, is expected from Cuba about the middle of the month. He will be at Saratoga for a few days and will probably go on to Windsor to lay his plans for the meeting at Oriental Park before the horsemen. John Whalen came up from New York with the racers Staunch and Genie W.
