The latter began forwardly, but was knocked back by GENERAL J. M. GOMEZ immediately after the start, then displayed a high flight of speed for the first quarter and took the lead on the turn out of the backstretch, but the early effort tired him and he labored in the closing strides. GENERAL r. M. GOMEZ was a prominent contender all the way and had no mishaps. MOODY set a fast early lace, but tired in the last quarter. HALU dropped out of contention at the start.
