After racing in closest pursuit of Wimiewood to the stretch head, John Dundees War Mask moved into the lead and scored a most decisive victory in the ,000 City of Windsor Handicap, the fifth race and feature attraction at Devonshire Park this afternoon. At the end jockey Buxton had the son of Star Shoot under restraint and he led by a margin of four lengths. Driving to the limit and heads apart came Dodge, Jouett and My Dear in this order, battling to the last ounce for the smaller iiortions of the purse. The start found Bondage, the favorite, unprepared and he was away too poorly to cut any figure in the running. War Masks time for the race of 1:15 reduced the track record two-fifths of a second. The half holiday crowd swelled the attendance to almost 15,000, the largest of the meeting. Ideal climatic and track conditions prevailed and an excellent card was provided for the occasion. After having been suspended by his contract employer, W. C. Weant, for several weeks, jockey F. Chiavetta commenced ridingagain today. R. F. Carmans erratie Carmandale, showing one of his best races in the secondary feature, a three-quarters handicap, led the speedy Marjorle Hynes for the entire distance and won easily in 1:11. which marked a new track record. The Williams filly ruled favorite, but was unable to reach the flying leader at any stage. Ticklish pulled up a trifle sore after the running of the race. 1 Fair Orieut scored a decisive victory in a small field of mediocre performers in the initial dash. After appearing to be well beaten Rouen came again in the final eighth of the second race and gained the decision by a neck over the fast coming Refugee. The Sunnyland Stable provided the winner of the third race in Mark West. He was outpaced by Lonely to the final eighth, then. forged to the front and woti with ease. G. K.
