THOROUGHBREDS ARE IN THE LEAD WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt., October 14. The horses competing in the 300-mile endurance test started into New Hampshire today with 120 miles to cover to reach their goal at Camp Devens, Mass., tomorrow evening. Of the twenty-seven horses that started the race only sixteen remained. Again today Bunkie and Mile. Denise were first on the trail. These two grade thoroughbreds from the army remount sen-ice have thus far shown the way to horses of other breeds and strains in the competition to determine of what blood Uncle Sams Avar horses of the future shall be.
